When I joined the Law Office of Michael L. Wilsman in 2006, I immediately noticed the need for value in Estate Planning.  The needs of the Anne Arundel County community require dealing with issues beyond a simple will and power of attorney.  The alternative of going to a big firms that charge big fees to cover their big overhead and marketing costs is not a good option for most of our residents.  As a result, I built my practice by concentrated focus an Estate Planning and training through continuing education in the field.

My goal in Estate Planning is to ensure that family legacies and wealth are transferred to the next generation according to my clients’ wishes.  To complete this process effectively, I develop personal relationships with my clients. The relationship is key to developing an Estate Plan that truly reflects my clients’ needs and desires.  The needs and desires are integrated into a tax efficient plan that reduces estate taxes and probate costs.  Planning for emergencies ensures that your trusted agents are able to act for you in the event circumstances limit your ability to act for yourself.  Attention to details in changing beneficiaries of life insurance policies and on retirement accounts as well deed changes are key aspects to the implementation of the plan.

I also handle Estate Administration guiding clients through the Probate Process.  Premarital Agreements are another important area of practice as many of older clients seek to protect their estate for their children before a subsequent marriage. To assist younger families, I handle the Adoption of children which fits into my practice of  creating family legacies.
