UPDATED: Guide to your remote will signing
We will be remotely witnessing and notarizing your documents under the Governor of Maryland emergency authorization number 20-04-10-01. Depending on the amount of documents you’ll be signing, the appointment will last between 30-45 minutes. You do not need to be at your spouses’ document signing, since you each have your own individual documents to sign.
Before our signing appointment:
Review the documents you will be signing and communicate any updates or corrections before your appointment. We cannot make changes during the signing.
What to bring to your signing:
Your driver’s license
A phone that you can take pictures with and send via text message
Headphones for your phone (optional, prevents echo)
A verified computer or device with a functional camera and microphone
The latest version of Chrome, Firefox or Safari installed on your computer or device
At your signing:
You, Mr. Berger, and two witnesses from our office will join a conference call (no video). The phone number and access code are in your event confirmation email from “notifications@calendly.com.”
You will receive an email from “donotreply@docverify.com” to start the notary transaction (do not click this link until instructed by Mr. Berger.)
The link in the DocVerify email brings you to the page where the remote signing will take place. Be sure to allow camera and microphone access.
Click Capture / Upload License and Face, then “Choose use Text SMS” to submit a picture of your driver’s license (front and back) and a selfie with your smartphone.
Enter or verify the following information: last 4 digits of their SSN, DOB, the information as it appears on your U.S drivers licenses or U.S. state ID, and your mobile number.
Click “Start Verification”and pass the two-minute credit report identity screener.
Adopt your signature - type your name and initial (or use the signature pad to write).
Start the web cam session.
Sign the pages indicated under “Signature Action Required Below”.
Notary will finalize the document.
After your signing
We will print your documents and the witnesses will sign them. Mr. Berger will prepare the remote authorization attorney supervision paperwork. We will submit your will to the register in your county. When that is returned, you can come pick up your original documents.
