FAQ Friday: Accessibility in client meetings

On Friday, June 21st, attorney Paula M. Mattson-Sarli discusses accessible consultations.

Consultations are most often in-person at our Severna Park location. However, sometimes it makes sense to do a meeting via Zoom. Ms. Mattson-Sarli recently met with a client who was hard of hearing and so they met via zoom using captioning. The captioning was very accurate and while there was a learning curve for how long needs to be spent while the other needs to read what was said, overall it was a very smooth process.

This example empowered Ms. Mattson-Sarli to be interested in making sure she has accessible to clients of all journeys. Sometimes using technology can also be helpful for those with mobility issues. Additionally, home visits are a service we offer.

During Covid, we got quite used to virtual meetings and while it wasn’t for everyone, we are happy to meet those who have a preference for virtual on zoom.

Accessibility isn’t just about the physical area of your office, it’s also about being more available. While we do like technology at our office, we are more than willing to meet our clients where they are at by adjusting our process to offer the best service we can.
