FAQ Friday: Back to school estate plan review

On Friday, October 6th, Attorney Candice Joy talks about the need for an estate plan review.

The New Year could be a great time to take a look at these items. However, for parents of minors the back to school season is time to look at things with a fresh eye.

You might need to come into the office and discuss certain changes with the attorneys in our office. These changes include representatives, agents, guardians or power of attorneys.

Sometimes the law changes which could effect the need for updating your plan. One example is tax law changes.

If you have adult children and want to add for divorce protection or if you now have grandchildren that you want to include.

If you have new assets you can make sure those are funded and titled correctly so they don’t go through probate.

It is important to go through all your beneficiary designations and make sure everything is updated how you want them to be.

It is important to make sure your family and/or representatives know where your estate planning book is and that account statements are in there.
