FAQ Friday: Childless Clients
On Friday, April 4th, Attorney, Steven Berger talks about estate planning for our child-free clients.
The number of couples choosing to not have children, continues to increase. Traditional estate planning often fails. As backup agents, younger siblings and nieces or nephews often work well. The problem with using friends who are the same age is that we don’t know if they’ll be healthy or even around by the time you pass.
Another option includes professional trustees that can act in the fiduciary capacity. Gifts are often spread out amongst a large amount of people. Charities are also widely used amongst this demographic of client.
