FAQ Friday: Estate Planning Book

On Friday, May 12th, Our paralegal, Sabrina M. Coughlin, discusses the estate planning book.

A part of our estate planning process concludes with organizing everything in a binder upon completion. A flash drive of everything digitally is included in the binder pocket as well.

The book has a table of contents and everything is organized by tabs. In the Will section, there is a copy of your Will, since the original is stored at the Register of Wills at your local courthouse. The receipt of storage will also be in the book.

There is an “other documents” section and here we suggest to include first pages of past bills such as water bill, internet, utilities etc. and anything that someone need to pay or cancel. Death certificated of family members that passed before you, burial plot information or letters you want to leave to loved ones could all be very helpful.

It is also important to keep your book in the same place so that it becomes familiar. It is also important that your spouse, children, personal representative or executor all know its location as well.
