HIPAA releases give an opportunity to release protected health information to loved ones. They have the right to information, but not to make decisions.

Health information are protected under state and federal regulations.

Fraudulently accessing someone’s protected health information could mean a fine of $50,000.

You waive rights under HIPAA when you sign the release. Your documents can be available online as you won’t have your documents on hand in an emergency hospital situation.
