FAQ Friday: Marital Trusts

On Friday, August 13th at 11 a.m. EST, Mr. Berger discusses what a marital trust is, and why it's needed.

Classic A trust in AB planning. Assets pass to the surviving spouse. This creates a spendthrift trust which is protected from creditors. There are no taxes paid no matter how large the trust is.

No other beneficiaries besides spouse and terminates on spouses death. Might have different person other than spouse to manage the trust.

Assets are adjusted to fair market value. This is the heart of our planning.
