FAQ Friday: Record Maintenance
On Friday, August 2nd, estate administrator, Karla Horn discusses record maintenance. Good and complete records need to be maintained.
A log needs to be kept. It doesn’t have to be terribly extensive, but can include the date, check number, purpose and which account it came out of. It is also important to keep any receipts or documents that came with it.
Records of all checks or deposits made are also important. This is important for reference in case questions come up later. This can be provided to beneficiaries or to be able to reimburse those who paid towards various expenses. Therefore, meticulous records are important.
In the beginning of a process, we don’t always know how the administration will go so its important to keep records.
