FAQ Friday: What to Expect from Your Estate Appointment
On Friday, February 24th, Attorney, Candice Joy shares what to expect from your Estate or Trust Administration consultation appointment.
The first step is to call our office, text, go on our website and email or make an appointment directly from our website.
There is a meeting fee for the first appointment and you will also receive a short intake form about the decedent and their estate or trust.
During this appointment, please bring existing documents, the death certificate and any fees already paid. If you don’t have all of these documents, then we still want to have the consultation.
We will want to discuss assets in length as well as any familial strife over the estate. If it is a minimal estate and you are the sole survivor we may just point you in the right direction for something you can easily do yourself.
If it is more complex and we believe it would be best to represent you, then we will discuss the fee and have you sign our agreement during the meeting as well.
If you choose to hire our firm, then we set a second meeting pretty quickly to start the process and we will also set a weekly call to start which will pair down over time.
The entire process can take about a year, but sometimes take longer.
Have a great weekend!
