Remote appointments and procedures for document signings

Governor Larry Hogan today issued a Stay at Home order for the State of Maryland effective Monday, March 30. In compliance and for the safety of our staff and clients, the office is no longer open. Our employees continue to work from home. All appointments are moved to phone and video conference, which we are happy to provide.

For document signings, we can offer two options:

Option 1: Find two people to witness for you

We will review your documents with you over video conference before you sign. We will then send you the documents to sign. You must find two people to serve as witnesses that are not interested parties in the will or trust; they must both witness you sign in front of them. A notary from our office will watch everyone sign via webcam and provide remote electronic notarization.

Option 2: Quick signing at the office

We will review your documents with you over video conference at an appointment before you sign.

At a separate short appointment, we will have the documents ready for you to sign. Please call when you arrive at the office. We will bring a clipboard with the pages to be signed to your car. We will need to see your identification to notarize the necessary documents.

We will provide you a clean pen that you can keep. This option will be contingent on all parties feeling healthy and not having any known exposure to COVID-19. Please wear a mask to this meeting.

Wishing you all well during this difficult time. Please reach out to us with any questions, concerns or accommodations needed. Thank you! Our email is info@bergerwills.com or call (410) 777-5916.
