FAQ Friday: Titling Assets
On Friday, October 27th, attorney Candice Joy discusses titling of assets and how it's done.to prepare when you pass away.
Accounts such as IRAs that lists a beneficiary or “payable on death” will not go through a probate process. If titled jointly then it will go directly to that person. That is handy if you wanted it to go to that person.
Anything titled in your Trust will disperse according to your Trust.
If it’s not joint and it’s not titled in a trust and a beneficiary is not set, then the asset will pass according to a Will. If you don’t have a Will, then it will pass according to statute.
